It looks like Starbucks is making some major changes, and this time, it’s not just a seasonal swap. The coffee giant is trimming down its menu by 30% by September, meaning some fan-favorite drinks are on the chopping block—including a handful of beloved Frappuccinos.
Why the change? According to Starbucks’ new CEO, the company is streamlining its operations to improve efficiency, cut wait times, and refocus on its core identity as a coffee brand. “We are simplifying our structure, removing layers and duplication, and creating smaller, more nimble teams,” the CEO shared in an email to Business Insider.
In a statement to BI, Starbucks added, “This will make way for innovation, help reduce wait times, improve quality and consistency, and align with our core identity as a coffee company.”
So, what’s getting the boot? Here’s the full list of drinks leaving the menu:
- Iced Matcha Lemonade
- Espresso Frappuccino
- Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino
- White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino
- Java Chip Frappuccino
- Chai Crème Frappuccino
- Caramel Ribbon Crunch Crème Frappuccino
- Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino
- Chocolate Cookie Crumble Crème Frappuccino
- White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino
- White Hot Chocolate
- Royal English Breakfast Latte
- Honey Almondmilk Flat White
If White Hot Chocolate was singlehandedly holding up Starbucks’ financials, I might need to reconsider my investment strategy. (Full disclosure: I am not a financial expert, and yes, I have Starbucks stock. Is that bad?)
And before you roll your eyes while sipping your black coffee, let’s not pretend Starbucks hasn’t been the butt of every coffee-related joke for decades. It’s been parodied in Best in Show, Role Models, and You’ve Got Mail—yet here we are, and here they are.
As for Frappuccinos, don’t panic just yet. The category isn’t disappearing entirely—plenty of other flavors will still be available. But if any of your favorites are on the list above, now’s the time to grab them before they’re gone on March 4.
On the bright side, Starbucks is making room for some new additions, including lavender-infused drinks and the Iced Cherry Chai, set to debut on the spring menu. So, while we say goodbye to some longtime favorites, at least there’s something fresh to look forward to.
